Dream Wedding Giveaway

Dream Wedding Giveaway

In 2006 when I had been a civil marriage celebrant for one year, my nail technician told me she and her partner were going to get married. They couldn't afford a full wedding so they were just going to go to the registry office. I thought about that. I really love weddings - the anticipation leading up to the day and then the excitement of celebrating your special day your special way. Really I had no decision to make. I offered to do her ceremony for free.

Every year since then I have made a point of giving away a wedding ceremony to a couple who appeared to be struggling. Consequently, when Lea Moate from Willow Tree Creative Services phoned, explained what they proposed doing and asked if I would donate my services as the marriage celebrant, again I had no decision to make. Quite apart from the honour of being the civil marriage celebrant chosen, it was the perfect extension to what I was already doing.

As far back as November 2010 Lea had been considering the idea of giving a couple in south east Queensland who had suffered hardship in some way, their dream wedding, absolutely FREE of charge. With the advent of the floods there was an even greater need for a good news story.

Now everything is in place. The date has been set. The lucky couple has been chosen. A dream wedding with an estimated value of over $20,000 arranged. As the civil marriage celebrant who performs the ceremony I will be part of a team of 16 sponsors involved. Visit the Dream Wedding Giveaway page for the full story.
